Consider an Adirondack Engagement

by | Mar 29, 2021 | Blog

Over the past 13 years of inn-keeping, we’ve been privileged to have a front-row seat to many special moments in our guests’ lives. We’ve helped plan surprise anniversary trips, birthday parties, elopements and our personal favorite – engagements!

If you’re ready to commit to your sweetie, consider popping the question in a beautiful location that is both meaningful and memorable – a place you’ll look forward to revisiting for upcoming anniversaries. At the Snow Goose Bed and Breakfast, our three guest rooms offer a level of intimacy and privacy that’s hard to find at a larger hotel. You’ll have hosts who know your name and are (almost) as excited as you to plan a proposal that you’ll cherish.

Whether you’re foodies, adrenaline junkies, peak baggers, snow lovers, wellness seekers, or big kids at heart, the Adirondacks offers many options to design an engagement that’s just right for YOU. Check out Amy’s “Getaway Your Way” guide HERE.

Here are a few tips for planning you engagement day:

1 – Choose your setting – You could propose during a scenic airplane ride over the high peaks, in a horse-drawn sleigh, while picnicking on the banks of the beautiful Ausable River, in a kayak, on the summit of a mountain (Snow Mountain is a favorite right behind the B&B), or even while dangling from a cliff on a climb.

2 – Consider a photographer – You may be content snapping a few selfies after the big moment, or you may want professional photos taken during or after the engagement. Local photographers like Jordan Craig Media and Mountainaire Gatherings have experience in capturing couples in love. We’ve also enjoyed helping with informal photo shoots for couples on our spacious front porch or by the crackling fireplace.

3 – Check the Weather – If you plan to propose outdoors, remember that Adirondack weather can change quickly. You’ll want to be prepared with layers of clothing and possibly rain gear. If rain is in the forecast, keep a FIRM grip on the ring! Or scout out a plan B location such as the Jay Covered Bridge – only a 20 minute drive away. The hammock on our front porch isn’t a bad location either.

4 – Celebrate the YES! – Follow-up your proposal with a celebration dinner at one of our local restaurants or treat yourselves to a couple’s massage or wine-tasting in Lake Placid. In addition, we have designed several lovely ENHANCEMENTS such as fresh local flowers, a wine, cheese and chocolate platter or a sauna session for two that can make your stay even more memorable. These are available to add during your booking process.

No matter where or how you propose, you’ll remember this day for the rest of your lives. Take some time to think about all of the wonderful ways to say “Yes,” then give us a call. We would be honored to help you plan the perfect Adirondack engagement.
